[ARCHIVED] Social Media School Threat

The Minot Police Department was notified of possible threat made through social media and referenced a school shooting. A specific school was not named by the person threatening to carry out the shooting, but Central Campus was mentioned by the person talking to the one making the threats. Therefore, Central Campus was the assumed target by the witness involved in this thread of information and there is no confirmation this would be the target if carried out.
The Minot Police Department is currently working with other law enforcement agencies to identify the source of the threat made and charges will be sought if the source is identified.
We have increased our police presence at Central Campus, which is where the threat is perceived to have been directed. Police do not think there is currently an increased threat to the safety of the children or staff attending Central Campus or any other Minot school.
