12:21 p.m.: Minot International Airport has reopened the primary runway.
10:02 a.m.: Minot City Transit will not be running bus routes today. Souris Basin Transit and paratransit are also closed.
9:45 a.m.: For the safety of the public and our team, garbage service has been cancelled for today due to the icy conditions. Today's collection will not be made up. The next collection for those customers with Tuesday/Friday service will be Friday, Dec. 12.
8:15 a.m.: Minot Public Library: Due to inclement weather, MPL will be closed today (12/9/2025). Enjoy a good book!
7:54 a.m.: Street Department: There have been 4 sand trucks out since midnight. 1 sand truck is running straight salt on hills along Priority 1 routes. 3 sand trucks are using a 2 to 1 sand/salt mix, upgraded from the standard 4 to 1. There will be a crew change at 8 :00 a.m. Conditions to watch will be 1) When the rain stops, 2) When the sun comes up, 3) When the wind starts. The Street Department will be watching those 3 factors to be the most effective in their approach and keep our streets safe.
7:23 a.m.: Minot International Airport: The runways have been closed. The Airport team is hoping with the warmer temps later today, we can open things back up later today!
7:05 a.m.: NDDOT: No Travel Advisories and Travel Alerts are affecting most of North Dakota this morning. due to ice. We are asking drivers to reduce their speeds to 25 mph or less in affected areas. Please do not travel in these areas. Wind, ice and snow are causing extremely dangerous conditions. For full information, use your NDRoads app or check travel.dot.nd.gov.
6:50 a.m.: Minot Police Department: Freezing rain has created extremely hazardous road conditions in and around Minot. The Minot Police Department is advising no travel at this time as conditions continue to worsen. If travel is absolutely necessary, please slow down and allow for extra stopping distance. City crews are working hard, but the weather is making conditions extremely challenging.
