The Patrol Division is made up of three 10 hour shifts that operate around the clock. The Patrol Division falls under the Operations Commander and is led by two Lieutenants, nine Sergeants, with 53 Patrol Officers divided up among the shifts.
The Day shift operates from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
The Afternoon shift operates from 4:00 pm to 2:00 am.
The Night shift is operates from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am.
The purpose of the Patrol Division is to provide protection of citizens and property through the community caretaker role by maintaining good public relations.
Duties of the patrol division include:
Responding to requests for service from the general public
Apprehending persons who have committed or are committing crimes.
Enforcing state laws and city ordinances
Investigating traffic accidents, traffic complaints and conducting traffic enforcement.
Maintaining order in the community by controlling disputes, disturbances, situations and behavior which tend to breach public order
Providing services in response to needs of the community for assistance, including searching for lost persons and property, abating nuisances, giving directions and advice and rendering first aid
