Landfill

The City of Minot landfill is located 1.5 miles west of the hospital on 37th Avenue Southwest. All loads shall be enclosed or covered with a tarp so the contents of the load stay within the transporting vehicle.

All waste loads are subject to random inspections. These inspections consist of unloading the vehicle and physically going through the contents of the load while the hauler waits until the inspection has been completed.

All unacceptable waste shall be loaded back onto the transporting vehicle and become the property of the hauler. You can also Contact the Landfill by calling 701-857-4719.

Guidelines

If you have ever visited the City of Minot Landfill, or any other landfill, you probably remember seeing a plastic bag or two hanging from a nearby tree or fence. Empty plastic bags are a universal litter problem at all landfills. Even the gentlest breeze can launch a plastic bag airborne and onto a neighbor's property. The Solid Waste Division therefore asks all landfill users to help prevent litter at the landfill by choosing to:

  • Reuse: Fill the bag with other waste before disposing of it at the landfill.
  • Recycle: Several local stores accept plastic bags for recycling.
  • Tie a Knot: Tie the bag in a knot and the wind cannot pick it up as easily.
